Our current vision for the next year.

Discussing and articulating our educational philosophy and pedagogy (this will guide the development and teaching methodology of all activities that include an educational component, and most of our activities likely will). Learn more about past events and the Bioregional movement on these links

A solid core team with shared mission and vision, core values, trust and solid minimal viable structures and processes, especially decision making to manage our work, is established.

Generative relationships with Lummi and Nooksack tribes participating (in ways they define) are in progress.

One or more bio-regional mapping and follow-up strategy sessions yielding a “best knowledge based” strategy for a portfolio of projects for the regeneration of our landscape have occurred.

We will hold a strategic planning sessions for all aspects of RW’s work

At least 3-4 “circles of commitment and regenerative activity” work steadily at the speed of community and trust and making progress (e.g. focus on water cycle, education, land management practices, urban landscape restoration, art circles, community building, finances).

The Bioregional Reflection activities that are part of the Landscape Group application are used in strategy sessions.

Budgeting and financial management systems are established.

Aspects of our work that require funding, such as paid positions,  have been identified and fundraising strategies developed to implement them, such as, participating in flow funding opportunities.

Regular get-togethers on the land-sharing fun, knowledge, food, art are happening.

Explore ways to partner and/or support agencies and organizations already engaged in earth regeneration in the region.

Support is in place for 2 – 4 regeneration projects in the region.

We are connecting people with time and energy to specific regeneration projects in the area.

Develop processes that help ensure that our work together is not sourced from the same mindset, biases, blindspots, collective traumas, etc. that have led to the metacrisis in the first place. We are exploring and articulating a Vision, Mission, and Core Values that will inform our ways of communicating, governance structures, meeting and decision making processes.

A solid core team with shared mission and vision, core values, trust and solid minimal viable structures and processes, especially decision making to manage our work, is established.

Regenerate Whatcom Connections Sheet

A great resource to learn about each other’s needs and wants are, and a great place to discover people you might want to work with. Please add your information to this sheet.

An excellent place to learn about upcoming regeneration related events and more!

Regenerate Whatcom on the Regenerate Cascadia website

This site has basic information about RW but is not yet as functional as the Regenerate Whatcom Community site.  Yet to be determined how it will be used in the future.

Design School for Regenerating Earth

This is the Mighty Network page for DSRE. LOTS of information about bioregionalism and the global earth regeneration movement. Great place to learn more and take a deep dive into the movement.

Regenerative by Design: How Soil, Water, and Carbon Cycles Shape Our Future

For the final event in our energy speaker series, we step off campus and into the living laboratory of Inspiration Farm. Join Brian Kerkvliet, regenerative farmer, educator, and co-steward of this permaculture demonstration site, for a grounded conversation at the intersection of land use, food systems, water, and climate resilience

Through the lens of permaculture, Brian will explore how intentional design can restore balance to the carbon, water, and nitrogen cycles, while producing nutritious food, capturing and storing energy, and building long-term ecological and community health. This 1-hour session will take place on-site at the farm and include dialogue, demonstration, and a systems-level perspective on how to meet this moment with regeneration rather than extraction.

Water is Love Event, November 14th

Hands on at Hunter’s Property, November 23rd

The work party will take place at the rewilding project of Hunter Lydon. The project began in 2020 and, in 2022, hosted an Earthworks class led by Brian Kerkvliet.

Come see the value in bringing water onto land and lend a hand with soil preparation for future plantings.

It’s a wet set, a seasonal wetland, so please bring rain boots and clothes to get dirty in. Water and snacks are not a bad idea too.

Its a raw site with no structures or bathroom. There is a spot to relieve yourself under the cover of trees, though.

Ways to Share Your Passions and Enthusiasm!
